Their mission statement, "leveraging the positive impacts of tabletop gaming," will come into play in many aspects of the game store and community.

You can also RSVP to the grand opening weekend here.

What to expect when the doors open?

BGE's Tabletop will be hosting a grand opening event on April 23rd and April 24th. The weekend will be packed full of events, prizes, and other things worth checking out! Be sure to check out our Events & Programs page for updates.

The retail store will consist of about 900 square feet with about half of it devoted to table space to play games. You can always browse products online and in store at bgetabletop.com. Anything that can be found online can also be picked up in store. Keep in mind that we keep some inventory (mostly overstock) in our fulfillment center.

BGE's Tabletop will host various events each week. The final event schedule is still to be determined. However, you can expect events hosted at the store to be centered around using tabletop games for learning, Pokémon community events, beginner-friendly Magic: the Gathering events, various roleplaying games, summer camp programs, and after school programs. Be sure to check out our Events & Programs page for updates.

Brief History of BGE's Tabletop: Games and More!

BGE's Tabletop started as a podcast in Taipei, Taiwan named Board Gaming with Education. They hosted several events around the city including professional development for teachers, language exchange board game meetups, and game nights. Since then, Dustin moved back to Los Angeles with his wife and they started hosted board game events-- including events centered around using tabletop games for learning.

As we all know the pandemic hit, so hosting events became a non-option. Dustin continued to push for the use of game-based learning in schools and taught courses locally at a high school. During that time, Dustin with the help of retired science teacher Rodger Moore, and some behind the scenes help from Grace Withmory, they started an online store for tabletop games. In the short two years since they started the store went from an online store, to hosing booths at various events in LA, to renting out and creating a small game store from a mall kiosk, and to finally opening their brick-and-mortar store in Los Angeles.
